K-12 Education

The Centerville School District encompasses the community of Centerville and the surrounding 10 mile radius. The elementary (Kindergarten-8th grade) and high school (9-12 grade) are housed in one large building. The school has two gymnasiums and the Stan Schmiedt Athletic Complex which serve as training centers for all sports including volleyball, football, cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls track and golf.

With just under 250 students enrolled in K-12, the Centerville Public School is proud to report that they have exceeded the Federal guidelines for the Department of Education's School Performance Index (SPI). The Centerville High School scored 88.49 out of a possible 100, which gives them a "status ranking" and puts the school in the top 10% of high schools in the state of South Dakota. The Middle and Elementary schools scored 82.13 and 90.37 respectively, putting them in the "progressing ranking" just behind the top 10%. Though the school system scored higher on this evaluation than any area school, they are still pursuing aggressive goals to make the "exemplary ranking", putting Centerville in the top 5% of all schools in the state.
